Affiliate disclosure

One paid programme, and it is not with any shop listed here

Links to the original bottle on Amazon can earn us a commission, and this page and the footer of every page say so. Links to the dupes — every merchant in this ledger — earn us nothing, and no merchant pays for placement.

Amazon Associates — active

355 checked listings

As an Amazon Associate, Dupedex earns from qualifying purchases.

Every fragrance page carries a link to the original on Amazon, next to the retail price in the page header. On 355 of them it is a specific listing somebody opened and confirmed; on the rest it is a search for the bottle by name, and the button says so. Amazon is not a merchant in this ledger and never appears as one: it sells the original, not a copy, so it is not listed among the dupes, not ranked against them, and not part of any coverage number on this site. The link is there because the honest answer to “should I buy the copy” is sometimes no, and a site that only offers the cheap door has an opinion about which door you take.

  1. The Amazon link points at the original fragrance — the bottle the records on that page are copies of. It is never a link to a dupe, and no dupe listing on this site is a paid link.
  2. There are two kinds of it and the button always says which. “Check price on Amazon” means a person opened that listing and confirmed it is the bottle in the heading. “Search Amazon for …” means we composed a search out of the record’s own brand and product name and did not check what comes back. A search result is not a verified listing and is never labelled as one.
  3. Neither one shows a price, because Amazon’s terms give a displayed price a 24-hour shelf life and this site is rebuilt on a release cadence. A number we could not keep current is a number we do not print.
  4. Both carry rel="sponsored", and both are disclosed at page level rather than by a tag beside the button: the Associates statement above sits in the footer of every page on this site, and this page states the whole arrangement. That is the Wirecutter pattern, and it is the practice this site follows since 2026-08-23.
  5. The link has no effect on the page it sits on: not on which dupes are listed, not on their order, not on the mismatches and out-of-stock lines, not on whether the record exists at all. Every record is rendered by the same template whether its Amazon link is a checked listing or a search.
  6. The tracking tag is attached at the redirect, not stored in the dataset. Anyone who downloads the published data gets plain product URLs with nothing of ours attached to them.

The merchants — nothing

0 approved

Buy buttons on this site go through our own /go/ path so that we can count how often people click one — that is the only measurement we get from a static site, and it is how we know whether any of this is useful. The click then lands on the merchant’s ordinary product URL. No tracking parameter is added, no affiliate tag is attached, and nobody pays us when you buy from a shop listed here.

The rules, for this programme and the next

5 commitments

We intend to apply to affiliate networks for the shops as well, because a ledger nobody funds stops being maintained and an unmaintained ledger is worse than none. Saying so now is cheaper than being caught saying it later. The first rule below is already in force on the Amazon links; all five apply to any programme that follows.

  1. The day one is approved, every link that could pay us will carry rel="sponsored", the footer statement will name the programme, and this page will list it by merchant with the date of approval — before a single link changes.
  2. Commission rates never affect which merchants we cover, how much of each catalogue we read, what order options appear in, or whether a mismatch gets published. Ordering is by price and by cost per millilitre, both of which you can check against the merchant’s own page.
  3. A merchant that pays nothing stays listed on exactly the same terms as one that does. Coverage is a function of the sitemap, not of the payout.
  4. This page names every approved programme, and the merchant pages carry the same status per merchant.
  5. Outbound clicks are already counted through /go/ links, with no cookie and no personal data. That does not change when a link becomes paid.
